WE LIMIT THE DURATION AND REMEDIES OF ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE TO THE DURATION OF THIS EXPRESS LIMITED WARRANTY.

WHAT DOES THIS WARRANTY COVER?

WHAT IS THE PERIOD OF COVERAGE?

The limited warranty pertains to any of the essential electric bicycle components (the “Covered Components”) that are found defective, provided that the product was used in standard and controlled manner and was maintained according to the manufacturer's instructions manual.

Below are parts that are defined as warranty covered electric bicycle components that carry a one-year manufacturer’s warranty from the original date of purchase:

Bicycle frame, electric motor, defective lithium-ion battery (the “Battery”), LCD display, wiring harness, throttle, cadence sensor, headlight electrical components, and controller.

This limited warranty is not meant to suggest or imply that the bicycle cannot be broken or will last forever. It does mean that the bicycle is covered subject to the terms of the limited warranty.

DETERMINING WHETHER DAMAGE OR DEFECT TO AN EBIKE OR COVERED COMPONENT IS PROTECTED BY THIS LIMITED WARRANTY SHALL BE IN THE SOLE DISCRETION OF SWFT. SWFT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ACCEPT OR DECLINE ANY WARRANTY CLAIMS AND WILL COMMUNICATE THE DECISION TO THE OWNER VIA EMAIL.

SWFT WILL NOT REPLACE ANY COVERED COMPONENT UNDER THIS LIMITED WARRANTY WITHOUT FIRST SEEING PHOTOS OR VIDEO OF THE DAMAGED COVERED COMPONENT. PROOF OF PRODUCT REGISTRATION AND ORIGINAL PURCHASE RECEIPT IS REQUIRED FOR VALID WARRANTY COVERAGE.

WHAT ARE YOUR REMEDIES UNDER THIS WARRANTY?

During the duration of this limited warranty, SWFT will either repair any defective Covered Component, or, at our option, replace any defective covered component with the same or most nearly comparable model or component then available.

Warranty claims that have been fulfilled do not cause the warranty period to be extended, nor do they trigger a new warranty period. The warranty period for any replacement parts and the original unit ends with the warranty period for the entire product.

All labor charges for warranty service are the responsibility of the bicycle’s owner.

If a defective part is not covered by the Limited Warranty, SWFT will suggest other parts (“Other Parts”), to the purchaser, at the purchaser’s cost. The purchaser will also be responsible for the shipping costs. All labor charges incurred by the purchaser for Other Parts are the responsibility of the bicycle’s owner.

WHO MAY USE THIS WARRANTY?

This limited warranty applies only to the original owner of a SWFT electric bicycle, sold by a SWFT approved retailer, and is not transferable to subsequent owners. This is a consumer warranty and does not apply to products used commercially or in rental operations.

If you do not purchase directly from rideswft.com, you will be subject to the return policy of the location where you purchased the electric bicycle. SWFT is not able to return or reverse any payments for any purchases on any products made outside of rideswft.com.

Any items purchased from private sellers, online auction sites, including eBay, liquidators, or items sold "as-is" or "final sale" or from clearance or going-out-of-business sales are not covered by warranty

Any other remedy, such as compensation for damages of any kind or loss of use, is excluded. The warranty period cannot be extended by granting an additional warranty.

WHAT DOES THIS WARRANTY NOT COVER?

The SWFT one-year limited manufacturer’s warranty does not cover damage of any parts resulting from normal wear and tear, including the results of fatigue. Fatigue damage is a symptom of the frame or other parts being worn out through normal use. It is one kind of normal wear and tear, and it is the owner’s responsibility to inspect their bicycle before every ride to ensure personal safety, and the safety of those around them. Please see “safety and replacement of parts”, below for further details.

This limited warranty is void if the bicycle is subjected to a crash, abuse, neglect, improper repair, improper maintenance, alteration, modification, theft, robbery, vandalism, incidental, consequential, or intentional damage, an accident or other abnormal, excessive, or improper use.

If assembly by owner or professional builder on non-pre-assembled parts, including covered components, is not performed correctly, the limited warranty will not apply. This includes stripped threads due to operator error during assembly. If any parts are improperly installed by a professional services provider, including covered components, the owner must recover damages from the professional service provider. If the owner, or extension of the owner installs the parts incorrectly, SWFT will deny the warranty claim and provide a parts quote.

Improper assembly or installation.

Any repairs that the owner did on their own, without the supervision of a professional or SWFT.

Improper alteration or installation of components, parts or accessories not originally intended for or compatible with the Product.

Damage as a result of accidents, collisions, road hazards, or operation on surfaces, such as stairs, not intended for conventional e-bike use; damage from external factors such as salt air or saltwater, bird droppings, chemicals, or other liquids.

Products with alterations or additions of non-original or Incompatible Parts, including but not limited to tires, brake pads, chains, lights, motors, battery packs, displays, controllers, etc.

Products with damage resulting from improper maintenance (e.g., storing battery fully discharged over the winter) or adjustments (e.g., not taking the bike to a professional repair shop for maintenance).

Products that have been used or transported improperly (e.g., exceeding maximum weight recommendation).

Installation or use of any third-party parts, accessories, or electrical or mechanical components, including chargers.

Paint damage or rust.

Lost or damaged keys.

Damage caused by stunt riding, racing, or other abusive treatment.

Damage associated with rental operations or commercial applications, such as, but not limited to transporting cargo, delivering newspapers, and rentals.

Product that has the serial number or the bar code removed, defaced, damaged, altered or made illegible.

Failure to perform maintenance or service at appropriate intervals in accordance with the written instructions provided with the Product.

What are my responsibilities and best practices for safety and product life optimization?

Safety and replacement of parts

Depending on the operating conditions, it cannot be ruled out that parts will have to be replaced due to wear (e.g., if bearing wear and tear or loss of wheel tread starts to occur). These parts are not covered under your limited manufacturer’s warranty, but the owner of the electric bicycle will need to ensure these parts are maintained and replaced when needed to ensure your safety, and the safety of those around you. SWFT urges all SWFT product owners to acquire and maintain a relationship with a bike repair company to maintain and uphold the parts that are not covered by the one-year limited manufacturer’s warranty, as well as general parts that could cause injury.

It is the customer’s responsibility to check the light system works properly before every ride.

The recommendation for electric bicycle owners is to follow this maintenance schedule:

  • 30 days after first ride – take electric bicycle to a bike repair company for a checkup and adjustment
  • 3 months - take electric bicycle to a bike repair company for a checkup and adjustment
  • If you are on track to be under 300 miles in one year, take the electric bicycle in for a yearly tune up
  • If you are on track to be over 300 miles in one year, take the electric bicycle in for a tune up twice a year

Normal deterioration includes natural fading of painted or plated surfaces, and cosmetic ozone or weather cracking in tires.

It is the customer’s responsibility to regularly check the brake pads and rotors. The brake pads and disc rotors are subject to wear as that is their function. Check the condition of the pads regularly and, if necessary, have them replaced by a repair specialist. Brake disc rotors also wear out. Regularly have the thickness of the brake disc rotors checked as part of inspection and replace the components, if necessary. Replacing these parts due to wear, is not subject to the statutory warranty. Environmental factors cause wear on these moving parts. These areas must be regularly cleaned and maintained. Changing these parts without the guidance of a trained repair specialist could put yourself or others in harm’s way, SWFT urges you to get these parts maintained and replaced by a repair specialist.

Some components of your bike are subject to wear due to their function. The extent of wear depends on the care, maintenance, and nature of the use of your SWFT electric bicycle (mileage, climate, road conditions, etc. are all factors). Bikes that are often left outside can also be subject to increased wear due to weathering. For safety, the parts must be replaced once they reach their wear limit. This includes but is not limited to:

The drive chain or toothed belt, the brake cables, the brake pads, the brake disc rotors, the rubber hand grips, the sprockets, or toothed belt disks, the gear cables, the tires, the saddle cover and saddle filling, the rims, the bearings in the headset, hubs, and bottom bracket.

On occasion, spokes will need to be tightened more than a non-electric wheel due to the vibration from the motor. The owner of the electric bicycle should have a professional check the tightness of each spoke ideally after the first 62 miles (100km) and then every 186 miles (300km). A spoke tightening tool can be used for minor adjustment, however SWFT urges extreme caution when using a tightening tool, as this could cause damage to your wheel if not properly done. If you find you have a loose or missing spoke on either the front or back wheel, please do not use your electric bicycle and call a bike repair specialist for maintenance.

As well as caring for your spokes and other bicycle parts not covered by the one-year limited manufacturer’s warranty, you should go over your bike with tools, tightening and checking everything that can be checked this will ensure you have a safe and well serviced bike, and you should check your bike before every ride to maintain personal safety and the safety of those around you.

Before buying and using this product, please check and follow local regulations for possible requirements for license, registration, and insurance. The buyer is responsible for all needed registration fees and sales taxes.

YOUR INSURANCE POLICY MAY OR MAY NOT PROVIDE COVERAGE FOR ACCIDENTS INVOLVING THE USE OF THIS E-BIKE. TO DETERMINE IF COVERAGE IS PROVIDED YOU SHOULD CONTACT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY OR AGENT.

Battery Maintenance Notes

Like any rechargeable battery, your SWFT electric bicycle rechargeable battery will experience a decrease in capacity over time, as it is subjected to charge and discharge cycles. The battery warranty does not include damage from power surges, use of an improper charger, water damage, improper maintenance, or such other misuse or normal wear. The one-year limited manufacturer’s warranty does not cover damages resulting from improper charging of the battery pack or use of any charger not supplied by SWFT.

Corrosion on electrical components is not covered by the warranty. You should dry the contacts on the battery and other electrical parts to prevent corrosion and oxidizing. Electrical contact cleaner can be used to keep connections clean if needed. In extreme weather (for example, where roads are salted in winter) you can apply battery terminal grease as a preventative.

Temporary decrease in power or distance that can be traveled on a single battery charge is normal, as described in the Owner’s Manual, due to operating conditions such as ambient temperatures, load, inclines, frequent starting and stopping, and normal system-protection functions, as well as temperature-related performance. This is not a cause for a replacement by the one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Normal deterioration, including the gradual decrease of battery capacity is standard. A SWFT electric bicycle battery will typically last about 600 charging cycles, however this will vary depending on the use, temperature, and maintenance of the battery. This gradual decrease is not a cause for a replacement by the one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

The owner of the electric bicycle is required to charge the bicycle battery at least once, every 30 days, for optimal battery performance. If the owner fails to charge the battery on the suggested charging cycle as recommended in the manual, the battery will not be covered under the one-year limited manufacturer's warranty.

If the Customer wants to return a SWFT electric bicycle, all products must be returned within 15 days of the delivery date, and returns are only accepted on unopened e-bike shipments, the customer is responsible for the cost of return.

Proof of purchase is required before a warranty claim is processed. Therefore, customers are strongly encouraged to promptly register newly purchased Products.  Customers can click here to register your bike.

  1. If the customer feels that the electric bicycle needs a warranty repair on a covered part, the customer must contact SWFT within one year from purchase date to file this claim.

If the original retail purchaser notifies SWFT of a warranty claim within the applicable warranty period and meets the requirements for the warranty to apply as set forth above, SWFT will evaluate the warranty claim.

In order for a battery warranty claim to be fulfilled, SWFT must receive the believed defective battery back before the new battery is shipped out to the owner.

DETERMINING WHETHER DAMAGE OR DEFECT TO AN EBIKE OR COVERED COMPONENT IS PROTECTED BY THIS LIMITED WARRANTY AND SHALL BE IN THE SOLE DISCRETION OF SWFT. SWFT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ACCEPT OR DECLINE ANY WARRANTY CLAIMS AND WILL COMMUNICATE THE DECISION TO THE OWNER VIA EMAIL.

During the duration of this limited warranty, SWFT will either repair any defective Covered Component, or, at our option, replace any defective covered component with the same or most nearly comparable model or component then available.

SWFT is not responsible for providing a box or packing materials for shipping if any parts need to be returned to SWFT as part of the Warranty Claims Process. SWFT is not liable for any loss resulting from the transport of Products to SWFT under a warranty claim. It is highly recommended that the Customer obtain insurance to cover the replacement cost when shipping Products back to SWFT.

If it is suspected that any Product is defective, do not attempt to repair or replace it yourself or to have it repaired or replaced before contacting SWFT directly — doing so may invalidate the warranty and may cause additional damage, not necessarily limited to the Products at issue. Furthermore, such action may create the risk of injury or death.

Shipping Damage

Upon receipt, the Customer should immediately inspect Products for damage. Shipping and freight damage claims can be extremely time sensitive, and therefore, SWFT will not accept shipping and freight damage claims later than 5 days from Customer’s receipt of the Product. Damage to a Covered Component during shipping is not covered by this Limited Warranty, but SWFT will replace such damaged Covered Components if you:

  • Notify SWFT of a Covered Component damaged in the shipping process within five (5) days of your receipt of the electric bicycle;
  • Provide SWFT with a dated picture of the damaged Covered Component;
  • Return all original packaging and paperwork included with the electric bicycle.; and
  • Note any immediately recognizable damage on the shipper’s Bill of Lading prior to signing off on the shipment.

Shipping damage claims are very time sensitive, and it is your responsibility to immediately inspect the electric bicycle for damage upon receipt.

If you choose to set up your own independent shipping method, such as use of a freight forwarder or other similar service, SWFT will not replace any Covered Components damaged during such shipping method.

Credit Card Chargebacks

If any electric bicycle purchase becomes subject to a credit card chargeback in any amount, and you are still in possession of the electric bicycle, then this Limited Warranty shall be invalidated until the credit card chargeback has been resolved.
